Home Computer Networking (3 Months)
The Computer Networking 3-month course is an applied, hardware-focused technical program designed to build competent network technicians, lab administrators, and IT support specialists. The curriculum bridges core data communication theory with real-world infrastructure deployment, guiding students through network topologies, protocol suites, and the 7 layers of the OSI model.
Practical lab work forms the backbone of this course. Students gain hands-on proficiency in physical network assembly: terminating and testing Cat6 cables, punching down RJ45 keystones, managing patch panels, and configuring commercial routers and managed access switches. The program covers IPv4 addressing and subnet calculation drills, dynamic host configuration (DHCP), domain name resolution (DNS), local file sharing, and enterprise wireless security. Students also learn how to deploy diagnostic tools to identify hardware faults, resolve network bottlenecks, and secure office Local Area Networks (LANs) against unauthorized access.
Key Modules:
Network Fundamentals & Models: LAN/WAN architecture, client-server models, OSI layers, and TCP/IP protocol stack
Physical Cabling & Hardware: Twisted-pair standards (Cat5e/Cat6), RJ45 crimping, cable testing, patch panels, and server rack setup
IP Addressing & Subnetting: IPv4 classes, CIDR notation, subnet masks, default gateways, and IPv6 fundamentals
Routing & Switching Basics: Cisco Packet Tracer simulation, router setups, basic switch management, and VLAN segmentation
Essential Network Services: DHCP server setup, DNS resolution, shared network resources, and print servers
Wireless Networking & Security: Access point deployment, SSID configuration, WPA2/WPA3 encryption, and MAC address filtering
Diagnostics & Network Troubleshooting: Windows CLI diagnostic tools (Ping, Tracert, Ipconfig, Netstat, Arp), link tracing, and fault isolation
Career Scope:
IT Support Technician
Junior Network Administrator
Computer Lab / Cyber Center Supervisor
Desktop Support & Infrastructure Assistant
